Role and Responsibilities

The Senior Consultant / Project Manager is responsible for leading client engagements focused on revenue accounting, Quorum systems, and operational process improvement for upstream oil & gas clients. This position combines project leadership, technical expertise, and consulting to help clients solve complex business challenges, optimize accounting processes, and successfully manage system implementations, upgrades, and ongoing support.

This role partners closely with client accounting teams, finance leadership, and software vendors to define project scope, implement solutions, manage change, and deliver successful outcomes. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable leading executive discussions, managing projects, and providing hands-on support during critical accounting and system initiatives.

JOB DUTIES

Client Consulting & Project Management

  • Lead consulting engagements from project scoping through implementation and client handoff.
  • Define project objectives, timelines, deliverables, budgets, risks, and communication plans.
  • Manage multiple client engagements while maintaining high-quality service and meeting project deadlines.
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders ranging from accounting staff to Controllers and Finance executives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client processes, controls, and system utilization.

Revenue Accounting Consulting

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for upstream revenue accounting processes, including:
    • Revenue distribution
    • Division Orders
    • Owner Relations
    • Revenue allocations
    • Prior period adjustments
    • Suspense accounting
    • Production and severance taxes
    • Month-end close
  • Assist clients in identifying accounting issues, process inefficiencies, and operational risks.
  • Provide hands-on support during critical accounting periods, including month-end close and special projects when needed.

Quorum Systems Support

  • Support implementation, configuration, optimization, and ongoing administration of Quorum Revenue Accounting (QRA), Enterprise Accounting (MQA), and related Quorum applications.
  • Plan and coordinate software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes while minimizing operational disruption.
  • Perform user acceptance testing (UAT), validation, and reconciliation activities to ensure system changes produce accurate accounting results.
  • Diagnose and resolve system configuration issues while recommending long-term process improvements.
  • Support data validation, workflow improvements, and system troubleshooting across multiple client environments.

Client & Vendor Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and Quorum Software support and product teams.
  • Translate business requirements into system solutions while communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Guide clients through software changes, process updates, and organizational change management activities.
  • Maintain proactive communication regarding project status, risks, and recommendations.

Process Improvement & Leadership

  • Develop documentation, implementation methodologies, and consulting best practices.
  • Mentor junior consultants and provide guidance on accounting, systems, and project delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of PetroLedger's consulting services and delivery model.

SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of upstream oil & gas revenue accounting principles
  • Advanced knowledge of Quorum Revenue Accounting (QRA), MyQuorum Accounting, and related Quorum applications
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple consulting engagements simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience facilitating software implementations, upgrades, and change management initiatives
  • Ability to build strong client relationships and communicate effectively with executive leadership
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in ambiguous environments

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Systems, or related field required
  • Five or more years of experience in upstream oil & gas revenue accounting
  • Previous consulting or project management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with Quorum Revenue Accounting (QRA) and MyQuorum Accounting 
  • Experience supporting software implementations, upgrades, patches, and user acceptance testing
  • Experience working directly with upstream operators and/or consulting firms preferred
  • CPA or PMP certification is a plus
  • Experience with Power BI, SAP, or other ERP platforms is preferred
