Part Time Personal Trainer

Position Summary

Campus Recreation is seeking enthusiastic and qualified Personal Trainers to join our fitness team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will design and deliver individualized fitness programs for a diverse university community, including students, faculty, staff, retirees, and their spouses. You will also play an active role in monthly fitness challenges as well as have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of recreation and fitness events throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial fitness assessments and develop personalized training programs aligned with each client's goals, fitness level, and health history.

  • Work with a wide range of clients including students, faculty, staff, retirees, and their spouses. adapt training approaches to meet the unique needs of each individual.

  • Demonstrate safe and effective exercise techniques, monitor client progress, and modify programs as needed to ensure continued improvement and injury prevention.

  • Educate clients on exercise programming, basic nutrition principles, and overall wellness habits to support long-term healthy lifestyles.

  • Assist in the planning and execution of monthly fitness challenges, helping to engage and motivate the campus community toward shared health goals.

  • Participate in and support other Campus Recreation and fitness events throughout the year, including wellness fairs, special programming, and community fitness activities.

  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and motivating environment that reflects the values of the campus community.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, session notes, and progress tracking in accordance with department policies.

Qualifications

  • Current personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization (NASM, NSCA, ACSM, ISSA, NESTA, NCSF, or equivalent).

  • Current CPR/AED certification (or willingness to obtain prior to first training session).

  • Genuine enthusiasm for working with a diverse college community across all ages, fitness levels, and backgrounds — including students, faculty, staff, retirees, and their spouses.

  •  Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and connect with clients of varying ages and abilities.

  • Interest in contributing to department programming and events beyond individual training sessions.

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional with a positive, service-oriented attitude.

  • Reliable transportation required.

Scheduling

This is a part-time position with flexible scheduling based on client demand and facility hours. Hours can vary week by week.
