ABOUT THE ROLE

SMP Automotive Systems Alabama is looking for a Quality Liaison to support our customer-facing quality operations. This position serves as a key connection between SMP and the customer, helping ensure our products consistently meet customer quality requirements.

The Quality Liaison will work directly with customer personnel to identify and address quality concerns, coordinate containment activities, support corrective actions, and communicate issues back to the SMP team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, professional, and comfortable working in a fast-paced automotive manufacturing environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Serve as a primary quality contact at the customer’s facility.
• Monitor product quality and ensure customer requirements are met.
• Respond to customer quality concerns and coordinate containment activities.
• Perform product inspections, audits, and verification activities.
• Communicate customer concerns to the appropriate SMP teams.
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Follow up on corrective actions to verify effectiveness.
• Document quality concerns, inspection results, and containment activities.
• Support sorting, rework, and containment activities as needed.
• Monitor rejected or suspect material and ensure proper identification and segregation.
• Support customer and internal quality audits.
• Maintain awareness of customer-specific quality requirements and procedures.
• Participate in quality meetings and communicate customer feedback.
• Escalate significant or recurring quality concerns to the Quality Liaison Team Leader.
• Follow all company policies, safety requirements, and quality procedures.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience in quality, manufacturing, inspection, or a related field preferred.
• Automotive manufacturing or Tier 1 supplier experience is a plus.
• Customer-facing experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to identify and respond effectively to quality concerns.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions, specifications, and quality documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and computer-based systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as business needs require.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily based at the customer’s facility and requires frequent interaction with customer and SMP personnel. The role involves standing and walking for extended periods and working in a manufacturing environment where personal protective equipment may be required.
