Psychiatric Technician – Residential Mental Health

Position Overview

Connections Mental Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Technician to provide direct care and clinical support to six (6) clients in a residential mental health treatment setting.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary treatment team. This role is responsible for medication administration, client observation, clinical documentation, safety monitoring, and supporting the day-to-day needs of clients within the residential program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and established protocols

  • Accurately document medication administration and client information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

  • Observe, monitor, and report changes in client behavior, mental status, symptoms, and overall condition

  • Complete client intake assessments and required admission documentation

  • Conduct routine safety checks and maintain a safe, structured residential environment

  • Support clients with daily routines, activities, and adherence to treatment program guidelines

  • Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation

  • Communicate client concerns, behavioral changes, and relevant updates to supervisors and members of the interdisciplinary treatment team

  • Follow facility policies, safety procedures, medication protocols, and applicable regulatory requirements

  • Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold client confidentiality at all times

  • Assist with light physical and operational tasks as needed to support the residential program

Qualifications

Required

  • Psychiatric Technician experience or equivalent applicable licensure

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a current TB test/clearance

  • Ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification

  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and accurate data entry

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform light physical tasks associated with the position

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a residential mental health, behavioral health, psychiatric, or treatment facility

  • Experience with medication administration and medication documentation

  • Experience supporting clients with mental health and behavioral needs

  • Familiarity with residential treatment procedures, client safety protocols, and clinical documentation standards
