Qualifications:

  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, supervises, guides, participates in, assists with, and assigns tasks related to the following:
    • Installs, maintains, feeds, prunes, trims, and waters a variety of ornamental plants, trees, and shrubs, in order to maintain a beautiful park and environment.
    • Manually removes, installs, and maintains plant material in beds and containers. Relocates specimen trees and shrubs. Designs or assists in design of landscaping beds.
    • Cleans and maintains fountains, lakes, and waterways.
    • Keeps gardens and green spaces clear of debris.
    • Operates and maintains machinery for loading, unloading, and transporting materials, equipment, and supplies.
    • Sets up and removes props, scenery, and decorations for festivals and special events.
    • Installs, operates, and maintains the sprinkler and irrigation systems that keep parks, gardens, and various green spaces watered, including winterization.
    • Performs winterization and startup of plumbing and water supply lines.
    • Monitors irrigation lines to identify problems faster and keeps records of how the irrigation system performs.
    • Maintains aesthetic quality and adequate clearances around rides, lighting, roadways, midways, signage, safety equipment, and other items.
    • Seasonal cleanup, including, but not limited to, leaf removal and natural debris removal.
    • Performs removal of natural debris from waterways.
    • Maintenance of hardscape and related materials, including but not limited to pressure washing, paver/retaining wall maintenance, and construction repairs and cleanup.
    • Works safely with a variety of power trimming, mowing, and tilling equipment, such as mowers, edgers, string trimmers, tractors, tillers, etc. as required by job assignment. Operates and maintains different kinds of heavy machinery such as mowers, tractors, and trenchers effectively and safely.
    • Operates and maintains equipment that can include sprinklers, water lines, pumps, suction devices, valves, and other plumbing equipment.
    • Snow and ice removal and mitigation to ensure safe passage of roadways and walkways.
    • Park grounds infrastructure maintenance, including but not limited to, park benches, tables, etc.
    • Assists with the control and removal of wild and feral animals that may encroach on Park property.
    • Inspects premises to identify infestation source and extent of damage to property, wall, and roof porosity, and access to infested locations at parks.
    • Exterminates unwanted creatures with the use of different techniques that are harmful to the pest.
    • Sets different pest control methods like creating barriers to prevent pests from entering a building, setting mechanical traps, and placing poisonous paste or bait in sewers, burrows, and ditches.
    • Ensures a building free from pests by maintaining the structural integrity of the building and ensuring the health and safety of occupants.
    • Determines the type of treatment needed to eliminate the pests and clean and remove blockages from infested areas to facilitate spraying procedure and provide drainage. Cleans work site after completion of job.
  • Communicates supply needs and assists with supply ordering.
  • Interacts with and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as the immediate supervisor, other Park managers and staff, co-workers, guests, vendors, contractors, inspectors, etc.
  • Provides guest service according to Michigan's Adventure standards when serving the guest, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions, and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Michigan's Adventure safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Meets Michigan's Adventure's attendance requirements as outlined in Michigan's Adventure's attendance policies.
  • Adheres to Michigan's Adventure's code of conduct including costuming and grooming standards as outlined in employees' Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Maintains certifications for duties required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including miscellaneous, unforeseen, or temporary tasks that fit within a general operational scope.
