Maintenance Mechanic II

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic II performs intermediate-level mechanical maintenance and repair tasks to support the safe and reliable operation of manufacturing equipment. This role requires strong hands-on technical skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision on routine repairs, and a solid understanding of conveyor systems, chain drives, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical troubleshooting. The Mechanic II serves as a skilled contributor within the maintenance team and provides support to both production operations and less experienced mechanics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, align, and maintain conveyor belt systems, including V-belts, timing belts, and modular belts, with limited supervision

  • Maintain and repair chain drive systems, tensioners, and lubrication systems to ensure proper equipment performance

  • Inspect, diagnose, and replace worn or failing mechanical components

  • Perform intermediate fabrication and mechanical work, including drilling, tapping, mounting, and basic welding

  • Assist with the installation, repair, and adjustment of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including cylinders, valves, regulators, and flow controls

  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks and perform mechanical inspections to support reliability initiatives

  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures using systematic problem-solving and root cause analysis

  • Read and interpret mechanical schematics, equipment drawings, and technical manuals to support repair activities

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school preferred

  • 2–5 years of industrial maintenance or mechanical experience

  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics

  • Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/industrial setting

  • May require standing, lifting, and working in varying temperatures
