We are seeking a highly capable and well‑rounded MEP Project Engineer to support the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems on commercial construction projects in the Tysons region. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving in a fast‑paced project environment.


Responsibilities

Project Coordination

  • Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent with day‑to‑day project operations.
  • Coordinate MEP activities with subcontractors, design teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Track RFI responses, change orders, and field directives.

Technical Support

  • Provide engineering support for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
  • Perform field inspections to verify installation quality and adherence to design intent.
  • Identify constructability issues and propose solutions early in the project lifecycle.
  • Support commissioning, testing, and turnover activities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate project documentation, logs, and progress reports.
  • Assist with schedule updates, procurement tracking, and cost control efforts.
  • Prepare technical reports, meeting minutes, and coordination summaries.

Quality & Safety

  • Ensure MEP work meets company quality standards and industry best practices.
  • Support site safety initiatives and help enforce compliance with safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 0+ in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering or related degree.
  • Strong understanding of cooling systems, electrical distribution, plumbing systems, and building codes.
  • Proficiency with construction documents, submittal processes, and project management workflows.
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, SolidWorks and MS Project (or similar).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with field teams and subcontractors.

Abilities:

  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
