Job DetailsJob Location: Ulm C-Store - Ulm, MT 59485Position Type: Full TimeJOB SUMMARY The position assists the Location Manager (LM) in directing, managing, supervising, and coordinating the activities and operations of the Mountain View Co-op (MVC) Retail Location. The Assistant Manager (AM) will coordinate assigned activities with customers, employees, and other divisions. The AM will maintain a positive and cooperative attitude that promotes teamwork, integrity, honesty, and helpfulness. The AM must embrace and exhibit MVC’s philosophy and culture of customer service.   REPORTING RELATIONSHIP Reports to the Location Manager.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Establish and maintain a high-performance environment characterized by positive leadership and strong team orientation. Establish and maintain a positive experience for MVC customers, clients, and vendors, through professional interpersonal interactions. Assist LM to supervise, plan, coordinate, and direct the work of the assigned location. Assist LM with staffing decisions including; hiring, terminating, training, employee discipline, performance evaluation, and scheduling of work. Handle any customer complaints in a prompt and professional manner. Maintain a clean and orderly facility. Report to LM customer complaints, daily invoicing, daily exception reports, etc. Provide feedback to Managers. Retain knowledge and understanding of MVC products and purposes. Monitor and maintain inventories and process orders in compliance with MVC procedures. Maintain and increase profitability and sales. Maintain accurate cash control. Implement and maintain MVC’s credit policy. Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system. Study and understand monthly margin reports and P&L’s. Practice and encourage workplace safety and hold employees accountable to practicing workplace safety. Handle and work in proximity to flammable materials, such as diesel fuel, unleaded gasoline, kerosene, and propane, as well as toxic chemicals, such as herbicides and other agricultural chemicals which affect public safety or public health. Other duties as assigned.   ESSENTIAL SKILLS & ABILITIES Knowledge and understanding of: Supervisory principles and practices Principles and methods of program development, implementation, and promotion MVC products and purposes Customer service Phone etiquette Basic math Organization and attention to detail Word processing and spreadsheet programs Safety rules, procedures, and practices Ability to: Establish effective working relationships with management, co-workers, and the general public. Report to work on-time and as scheduled. Communicate effectively with others in both technical and non-technical terms. Operate a personal computer utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications appropriate to the assigned duties. Follow verbal and written instructions. Plan, organize, prioritize, supervise, direct, and evaluate the work of assigned staff. Maintain time, cost, and materials records and prepare comprehensive reports. Prepare accurate and reliable reports containing findings, recommendations, and technical documentation. Utilize logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions. Perform a variety of supervisory and public relations tasks with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines. Quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and technology. Drive to meetings year-round within the state of Montana. Work varied shifts and days as required of the position.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education/Experience/Training: High School diploma or GED Preferred Two (2) years prior Retail experience Preferred Experience: At least six months (6) of supervisory experience License/Certification: Forklift Certification or ability to obtain is preferred Valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Montana   ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES The physical demands described herein are representative of those that are required by the employee in order to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Customer assistance and location duties are required in all weather conditions. Travel within Montana to attend meetings in all weather conditions.
