Job DetailsJob Location: City of Fairburn - FAIRBURN, GA 30213Position Type: SeasonalEducation Level: High SchoolSalary Range: $15.50 - $15.50 HourlyJob Shift: AnyThe City of Fairburn is seeking to fill the position of Lifeguard for the duration of the summer camp to provide a safe, aquatic environment at various aquatic facility areas, and to adhere to all safety rules and procedures.   Please Note: The minimum age requirement for this position is age 16 or older.   Hiring Range:          $15.50 per hour   Posting Start:         1/14/2026 Posting End:           4/30/2026   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Practice preventative lifeguard measures, administers CPR/First Aid and performs water rescues as needed; Conducts safety inspections of aquatic areas. Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facilities. Explain all pool rules and regulations as set forth by the City of Fairburn. Responsible for the cleanliness of the pool and facility, as assigned. Responsible for removing clutter, trash, and all foreign objects in and around the pool area. Responsible for vacuuming, sweeping, washing, moping, and disinfecting the pool and facility, as needed. Perform first-aid care for patrons as needed and complete accident reports. Maintain required certifications and participate in all required in-service training sessions. Perform other related duties, as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Requires one (1) to two (2) years Lifeguard/Instructor experience.   Licenses or Certifications: Possess valid Georgia driver’s license. Certification as American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI). Certification in CPR and First Aid required. AED (Automated External Defibrillator)     Special Requirements: Requires an acceptable general background check to include a local and state criminal history check and sex offender registry check. This position is deemed safety-sensitive and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THIS POSITION: Knowledge of patron and aquatics facility safety principles and practices, including a knowledge of the application of life saving and first aid techniques. Ability to effectively handle or properly refer customers’ concerns/complaints. Ability to communicate effectively with patrons and staff. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to multi-task. Ability to monitor guests entering and existing the aquatic facility. Ability to monitor guests while using pool slides/splash pad. Ability to interpret and explain safety rules and guidelines. Ability to monitor facility for trash and debris cleanup and to perform maintenance. Ability to ensure that facility space including floors, deck, restrooms, are kept clean.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS Tasks require the ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort. Some combination of climbing and balancing to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.  May involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds)    WORK ENVIRONMENT Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as, odor, fumes, wetness, water hazards, temperature and weather extremes, hazardous materials, infectious disease, or rude/irate customer.   The City of Fairburn is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
