The Line Operator 2 serves as the front line of the production operation and is responsible for the basic operations of the extrusion lines and will assist with training new hires in the process.  As they continue to expand their knowledge by learning to operate various production lines, the Line Operator 2 works to develop a more in-depth understanding of quality standards.  The Line Operator 2 must be knowledgeable of and follow all procedures needed to ensure the proper safe and efficient operation of their production line.  Position works under established guidelines and company policy.  

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs basic production duties such as loading cores onto the core table; pulling trim; adjusting roll widths; preparing the finished product by pulling, lifting, labeling, and packaging the finished stretch film rolls, Inspecting the visual quality of the rolls and removing rolls that don’t meet established quality standards, has gained a thorough understanding of roll weight computer systems and their use to accurately weigh rolls and/or boxes of finished product; reporting finished products on required documents; cutting and preparing scrap bins for recycling.
  • Prepares product for shipping by setting up the skids with required packaging materials, and packing trays or boxes with finished rolls, could involve manually pre-wrapping trays with stretch film before being sent to the automated wrapper or wrapping them by hand depending on plant procedures, moving completed skids through the safe and effective use of manual and electric pallet jacks.
  • May begin to train on and perform duties on various lines, rewinders, and other required areas of the production floor to increase knowledge and fulfill staffing needs.
  • Trains on quality standards and controls, may begin training to perform quality testing and complete tasks in the quality lab including Shift Testing; completing quality control paperwork accurately following established standards, and reporting quality test results to Management to ensure quality standards are being met.
  • Assists with ensuring the line operates continuously, coordinating shift change activities, and notifying Sr. Operators, the Team Manager, or other Management of any issues.
  • Assists with training new Line Operators when placed on the production line.
  • Maintain housekeeping on the line to ensure a clean work environment; ensure the work area is prepared and ready for shift change.
  • Performing any other duties as requested or assigned by Management.

* The Salary range is reflective of a Line Operator 1 with Step progression 1 - 13 as required for transparency under the Washington Equal Pay and Opportunities Act.

SCHEDULE:

We now offer 12 Hour Straight Shifts without monthly Rotation, but Shift is subject to availability of open position.

Shift Hours: Night Shift - 7:00pm - 7:00am

Working a 2-2 3 Schedule with every other weekend as a 3-day weekend off.
This type of schedule gives you more days off! You only work about 14 days per month, but due to 12 hr shifts you have the same hours as if working 20 days per month!!

Work involves Overtime, 12 Hour Shifts, and Schedule Changes.

Requires adherence to deadlines and project completion deadlines.

* Discretionary Annual Incentive Program with Vesting Schedule of 25% (prorated if hired prior to October 1st of bonus calendar year) - 100% eligibility at 3 years.

* Paid Vacation - Accrual of 0.77 hours per week begins at hire. Accrual of 1.54 Vacation hours per week begins on 1st anniversary. Accrual of 2.31 hours per week begins on 4th anniversary and accrual of 3.08 hours per week begins on 15th anniversary.

* Paid Holidays - Generally 6 per year

* WA. Paid Sick Leave - Accrual of 1 hour for every 40 hours worked

* 401(k) Plan includes a company match at 100% of the first 3% of contribution and 50% on the next 2% of contribution. Eligibility begins after 6 months of employment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITY

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the duties in preceding Line Operator roles.
  • Technical aptitude to understand machinery and systems within a production environment. 
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand and properly utilize basic hand tools with accuracy.
  • Ability to understand and properly utilize scales, weights, and other measurement tools with accuracy.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment while adapting to a fast-paced environment and rapid changes.
  • Able to juggle multiple tasks and handle unexpected delays or events while maintaining constant attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills combined with good problem-solving skills.
  • Practice and promote teamwork within our organization.  
  • High level of dependability regarding attendance and punctuality.
  • Understanding and ability to communicate using the English language in both written and spoken form or willingness to take ESL classes.
  • Basic mathematic skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to use hands including fingers to hold, touch, see, feel, grip, squeeze, push, pull.
  • Ability to perform pushing, pulling, and forward exertion on a regular basis.
  • Ability to have an overhead extension with arms on a regular basis.
  • Ability to use enhanced levels of manual dexterity with arms and hands to operate industrial power tools occasionally.
  • Ability to stand and walk continuously on a concrete floor for 12-hour shifts.
  • Ability to stand, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat frequently.
  • Ability to kneel occasionally.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders occasionally.
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to climb on uneven surfaces occasionally.
  • Ability to regularly lift and or move between 45-55 lbs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and or move up to 65 lbs.
  • Ability to understand and communicate verbally, in person, and over a paging system.
  • Ability to meet requirements of and utilize all PPE when required. 

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a plastics manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret Bill of Materials / Job Packets.
