IT Technician

 Reports to: IT Manager
 Location: Union, Mo
 Schedule: Full‑time with minimal off‑hours support

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated IT Technician who enjoys helping people, understanding business issues, solving technical problems, and working in a fast‑paced, hands‑on environment. This role is ideal for someone organized who thrives on variety—balancing short‑term user support with longer‑term IT projects that help modernize and strengthen our technology environment.

You will support both on‑site and remote employees across the U.S., Mexico and Canada, working closely with other IT team members while leveraging current Microsoft technologies. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll regularly translate technical solutions into clear, user‑friendly guidance.

 

What You’ll Do

This is a dynamic role with changing priorities and opportunities to grow. Key responsibilities include:

End‑User Support & Troubleshooting

  • Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support for on‑site and remote users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to:
    • Windows and Mac computers
    • Printers, scanners, kiosks, and copiers
    • Mobile devices and peripherals
  • Install, configure, and upgrade software on user workstations
  • Repair, replace, or coordinate replacement of damaged hardware
  • Clearly explain technical issues and solutions to non‑technical users

Microsoft & Infrastructure Support

  • Support and troubleshoot environments leveraging Microsoft technologies such as:
    • Windows OS
    • Microsoft Azure and cloud‑based services
    • Microsoft security and endpoint tools
  • Assist with basic networking issues involving switches, routers, cabling, and patch panels
  • Monitor system performance and work with vendors or internal teams to resolve issues

Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in IT projects such as:
    • Hardware refreshes
    • Software rollouts
    • Security tool implementations
    • Process and documentation improvements
  • Work alongside internal teams including software development, security, and governance
  • Help implement and follow IT security policies and best practices

Operations & Documentation

  • Use ServiceNow (or similar ticketing systems) to manage incidents, service requests, and changes
  • Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, configurations, and solutions
  • Participate in meetings and presentations to share ideas, progress, and recommendations
  • Travel to manufacturing or distribution facilities as needed

 

What We’re Looking For

Required Skills & Experience

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field with 2+ years of experience in an IT support or technician role, or equivalent hands‑on experience
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and basic networking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt communication style for technical and non‑technical audiences
  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities
  • Ability to lift and move IT equipment (25+ lbs)
  • Experience with the following tool sets is helpful:
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Microsoft Defender or other endpoint security tools
    • Microsoft Dynamics D365
    • Remote monitoring and management tools (e.g., N‑able)

 

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Occasional after‑hours or weekend support may be required (overtime is paid)
  • Travel to our St Louis office (mileage reimbursed) approximately once every two weeks with potential 5% travel to other out of state sites
