About the Role:

The Sawmill Operator plays a crucial role in the timber processing industry, responsible for transforming raw logs into usable lumber products. Operators will monitor the quality of the output, making adjustments as necessary to meet production standards. Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Basic mechanical skills and understanding of machinery operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience specifically in a sawmill or lumber processing environment.
  • Knowledge of wood species and lumber grading standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain sawmill machinery, including saws, conveyors, and other equipment, training is provided.
  • Monitor the milling process to ensure quality control and make adjustments as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on machinery to prevent downtime.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Work Schedule Monday-Friday 10hr/day with some exceptions to a modified schedule on Fridays. 

Skills:

Preferred skills, such as knowledge of lumber grading, enhance the operator's ability to assess product quality effectively. Overall, a combination of technical skills and industry knowledge enables the Sawmill Operator to contribute significantly to the efficiency and output of the sawmill.
