JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Multicultural Engineering Program Graduate Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of student focused programming that promotes community building, professional development, and cultural engagement within the engineering student body. The Graduate Assistant works closely with MEP staff, student leaders, alumni, and campus partners to ensure the successful execution of signature programs and ongoing initiatives.

The Graduate Assistant provides weekly support for MEP programming. Responsibilities may include planning sessions, developing agendas, coordinating speakers, preparing topics, creating flyers and advertisements, managing room reservations, supporting catering needs, communicating with student leaders such as MEP Envoys and Lead Mentors as well as communicating with MEP alumni. The Graduate Assistant will assist in preparation of brief written summaries for annual reporting, summarizing program events, student involvement, and engagement outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Knowledgeable about resources on campus (both academic and social).

  • Knowledgeable about or experience working with undergraduate students.

  • Understanding of collaborative projects and the ability to encourage group work.

  • Possess student development event / programming skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written).

  • Sharp organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and act as a role model for students.
