JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Penn State Engineering LibraryĀ locatedĀ in the ECoRE Building on the University ParkĀ CampusĀ isĀ currentlyĀ lookingĀ forĀ staffĀ whoĀ areĀ availableĀ beginning in theĀ Fall 2026Ā semester and continuing into Spring 2027 and beyond. Currently, we are looking for applicantsĀ who can work on WednesdaysĀ with morning and afternoonĀ availability onĀ other days asĀ well.Ā This is a part-time position that willĀ work onĀ an assigned weekly schedule with theĀ optionĀ to take extra shifts. Hours andĀ scheduleĀ for each semester will vary.Ā 

TheĀ idealĀ candidateĀ isĀ aĀ warmĀ andĀ outgoingĀ teamĀ memberĀ withĀ aĀ strongĀ workĀ ethicĀ andĀ aĀ firm commitment to providing the best possible user experience. Excellent communication,Ā interpersonalĀ and active listening skills along with the ability to interact comfortably with technology are preferred. Training will be provided forĀ the catalogĀ and operating systems.Ā

  • AssistĀ patronsĀ inĀ locatingĀ materials,Ā includingĀ e-resourcesĀ andĀ CourseĀ ReservesĀ 

  • ReferĀ patronsĀ toĀ subjectĀ specialistsĀ orĀ full-timeĀ staffĀ asĀ neededĀ 

  • EnforceĀ theĀ LibrariesĀ CodeĀ ofĀ ConductĀ andĀ theĀ LendingĀ CodeĀ 

  • Open/CloseĀ theĀ libraryĀ asĀ neededĀ 

  • Collect user statistics (room or patron counts, types of questions asked)Ā Ā
