JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The Mitchell lab in the Department of Entomology is recruiting undergraduate researchers to assist in insect pheromone ecology and chemoreception as a part broader study on chemical ecology of wood boring insects. Job responsibilities will involve travel to study sites (within 1 hour of State College), insect collection at the sites, and insect identification, with opportunities to assist with chemistry and molecular biology benchwork. Relevant job training will be provided; students will gain familiarity with methods of forest entomology, insect monitoring, and pheromone collection and analysis using GC-MS. Preference given to students who have completed coursework involving insect classification (or prior job experience) and have a valid driver license. BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
