Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement:
The University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites applications for a full-time, contractual, twelve-month, exempt position with limited benefits. This position reports directly to the Head Baseball Coach. The Assistant Baseball Coach assists the Head Baseball Coach in administering all Division I Intercollegiate Baseball program phases.

Salary: $45,000- $50,000

Benefits: Benefits other than leave are subject to change by action of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, the University System of Maryland, or the State of Maryland. The minimum benefits to be provided to all Contingent Category II employees, on an annual basis, are listed below. These benefits shall be prorated for contracts of less than one year and for less than full-time employment.

• Health Insurance - Contingent Category II employees may participate in the
State Health Insurance Program and Prescription Plans that are available to
state employees. Additionally, Contingent II employees may participate in
supplemental retirement plans approved by the State of Maryland and the
USM per laws and regulations.
• Annual Leave - Five (5) days of accrued annual
• Sick Leave - Three (3) days of accrued sick leave
• Holidays -Eight (8) holidays – New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Day,
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday
after Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day

Responsibilities:
• Develop, instruct, and oversee all aspects of the pitching staff, including
practice planning, game preparation, bullpen management, and in-game
pitching strategy.
• Design and implement individual and team pitching development programs
focused on mechanics, velocity development, command, pitch design,
injury prevention, and performance enhancement.
• Assist the Head Coach with recruiting and evaluating prospective student-
athletes in accordance with NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
• Coordinate scouting reports, video analysis, and opponent preparation for
pitchers and coaching staff. Monitor and support the academic progress,
retention, and graduation success of student-athletes. Assist with
scheduling, travel coordination, team operations, and organization of the
baseball program. Oversee equipment needs and inventory related to the
pitching staff and baseball program.
• Supervise student managers and assist with daily practice and game-day
operations.
• Foster positive alumni, donor, and community relationships through
outreach and engagement activities.
• Assist with camps, clinics, fundraising initiatives, and community service
projects.
• Ensure compliance with all NCAA, conference, university, and departmental
policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head
Baseball Coach.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
• Thorough knowledge of baseball pitching mechanics, player development
strategies, and game management.
• Ability to teach and develop pitchers at the NCAA Division I level.
• Experience utilizing video analysis, scouting software, and baseball
analytics to enhance player performance. Strong recruiting, evaluation, and
talent identification skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate and build relationships with student-
athletes, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
• Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Ability to monitor and support student-athlete academic progress and
personal development.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and extensive
travel.

Physical Demands:
• May be required to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping,
reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting.
• May be required to work in adverse weather conditions.
• May be required to wear and work in personal protective equipment.
• May be required to operate a variety of equipment to include office
equipment.

Preferences:
• Previous Collegiate and/or Professional coaching experience

Minimum Qualifications:


Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Knowledge of and commitment to compliance with all NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and university rules and regulations, as well as dedication to the full academic development of student-athletes. Strong communication, organization, and administrative skills.
