Job Description Summary

Organization's Summary Statement:
The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites resumes for a twelve month, full-time, grant funded faculty position. Continuation of the position is subject to availability of funds. The start date for the position is January 2026.

Responsibilities:
•Work to develop a program in ecological numerical modeling.
•Conduct the ADCP, Wave and Water Quality observations in the Maryland Coastal Bays.
•Run the Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Modeling and Ce-Qual-ICM Water Quality Modeling.
•Co-supervise graduate students and undergraduate students.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
•Ph.D. in Oceanography or Marine Sciences. ABD will be considered with an expected completion
before appointment date.
•Experience in oceanography observational skill.
•Experience in ecological/water quality numerical modeling experiences.

Physical Demands:
•May require extended periods of standing, bending, stooping, sitting at desk.
•May require lifting up to 25 lbs.
•Requires communication with a variety of constituents externally and internally.
•Requires operation of a variety of office equipment.

Preferences:
•Experience in running numerical ocean model (FVCOM, CE QUAL-ICM).
•Experience of supervising undergraduate students.
