The Mental Health Counselor position is part of the Wyandot Medical Providers at Tarhe Trail team and is a full-time role working Monday through Friday day shift hours, approximately 80 hours per two-week pay period. This position includes weekend and on-call responsibilities. The Mental Health Counselor provides compassionate, confidential counseling services to support patients through life challenges, behavioral health concerns, and personal growth while promoting emotional wellness and stability through individualized treatment and evidence-based care. This role will provide services to patients of all ages, and candidates should demonstrate strong pediatric counseling skills.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work (LISW), or Licensed Professional Counselor/Clinical Resident (LPCC) required
Appropriate State of Ohio credentials and licensing required
EMDR experience preferred
Strong ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
Tact and diplomacy when working with individuals under stressful conditions
Ability to make decisions based on urgency and patient needs
Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently with minimal direction
Commitment to quality care, teamwork, and patient-centered service
Key Responsibilities
Provide individual and group counseling services to patients in a supportive, therapeutic environment
Assist patients with developing coping skills, improving communication, and navigating life changes
Complete interviews, observations, and behavioral health assessments to support individualized care planning
Develop and adjust treatment approaches based on patient progress and ongoing evaluation
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of patient care and progress
Serve as a patient advocate and provide support during crisis situations as needed
Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
Maintain compliance with all organizational policies, professional standards, and regulatory requirements
