Job Summary

The Team Leader is responsible for leading daily production activities within the Fabrication department to ensure safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives are achieved. This position promotes a culture of continuous improvement through the Rittal Production System (RPS), develops team members, and supports operational excellence initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned fabrication area(s) to support and execute the production schedule.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment with a focus on achieving zero workplace incidents.
  • Meet or exceed departmental goals related to safety, quality, productivity, uptime, on-time delivery, and cost performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through implementation and sustainment of the Rittal Production System (RPS).
  • Foster strong collaboration and communication across shifts, departments, and leadership teams.
  • Lead and support team members in meeting daily production requirements and operational objectives.
  • Facilitate regular RPS meetings and ensure completion of resulting action items.
  • Ensure work instructions are current, accessible, and consistently followed by team members.
  • Provide training, coaching, and guidance to employees to support performance and development.
  • Attend and actively participate in production, staff, and project meetings as required.
  • Support ongoing improvement efforts within the Fabrication department.
  • Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and engaged team environment.
  • Monitor employee performance, provide feedback, and hold team members accountable to established standards and goals.
  • Assist in responding to production schedule inquiries and support effective production planning.
  • Continuously develop leadership, technical, and operational knowledge and skills.
  • Lead and sustain 6S workplace organization and housekeeping initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience

  • Previous manufacturing leadership or supervisory experience required.
  • Experience within a sheet metal fabrication environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Thorough understanding of fabrication processes, equipment, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic production environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift and move materials in accordance with company safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, moving machinery, and varying temperatures.
