Position Summary:

HeliService USA is seeking internal applicants for the role of Assistant Director of Safety (ADOS). This position supports the Director of Safety & Quality Assurance in the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).

The Assistant Director of Safety serves as the alternate person responsible for SMS functions and provides support in safety reporting, corrective action tracking, audit preparation, emergency response planning, and safety culture promotion. The role is intended for an individual who is organized, safety-focused, dependable, and comfortable working across departments to support company safety objectives.

As the Company continues to grow, the work schedule may evolve into a full-time position at the discretion of the Accountable Executive and Director of Safety & Quality Assurance.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS, SYSTEMS

Required:

  1. Education:HighschoolDiploma,
  1. Experience:1-2 years of experiencewithin theaviation industry

Preferred:

  1. Education:Safety Management Systems (SMS) trainings, or similar
  1. Experience:
  • 1-2years experiencewith writing andmaintaininga Safety Management System
  • Experience working with 14CFR and aviation industry safety management guidance
  • Familiarity with the “4-pillars” of a functioning Safety Management System

TRAINING/SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES REQUIRED 

  • Complete annual training as required by company policy and law on an annual basisin a timely manner.
  • Read all newsletters and bulletinstoremain current on policies, procedures, and developmentsas well asto meet all companycompliance standards. 

RESPONSBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Monitoring incoming safety reports fortimelyhandling, follow-up, and closure.
  • Tracking corrective actions resulting from safety reports, meetings, audits, drills, or other safety-related activities.
  • Supporting internal and external audits, includingassistancewith auditpreparationand tracking of audit findings when requested.
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through visible engagement, professional communication, and encouragement of safety reporting.
  • Serving as the acting nominated safety manager in the absence of the Director of Safety, whenrequired.
  • Supporting andfacilitatingEmergency Response Plan drills across company bases.
  • Coordinating with executive leadership, department managers, base personnel, and customers to support SMS activities.
  • Assistingwith documentation, follow-up, and recordkeeping related to SMS tasks and safety initiatives.
  • Supporting continuous improvement efforts within the SMS.
  • Assist the Director of Safety & Quality Assurance with any other miscellaneous tasks as requested.

MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS

  • Working knowledge of Safety Management System principles.
  • Familiarity with safety reporting systems and corrective action tracking.
  • Understandingaudit processes and safety documentation practices.
  • Ability tomaintainconfidentiality and handle safety information professionally.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow up on open items and drive tasks toward closure.
  • Professional judgment and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive, just, and proactive safety culture.
  • Competenciesfor the role will be assessed annually with the Director of Safety & Quality Assurance.
