Radiology Technician-Per Diem

In accordance with the mission of Wood Health Company, Falcon Health Center, and Wood County Women’s Care, the radiologic technologist is responsible for providing safe and effective clinical care while operating x-ray equipment that assists physician(s) with diagnosing and/or treating disease and/or injury in the office setting.

MAJOR TASKS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Prepares patient for radiologic procedures. Protects patient, self, and other staff from radiation hazards. Takes X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients and proper ionizing factors of radiological diagnosis. Adjusts/sets radiographic controls. Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific parts of the patient’s body as requested by physician(s) or Advanced Practice Provider (APP). Processes film. Checks X-rays for clarity of image, retaking when needed. Distributes X-ray(s) to appropriate medical staff.
2. Maintains required records including patient records, daily logbooks, and monthly reports.
3. Performs quality control checks to assure X-ray unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and departmental policies.
4. Complies with safety standards.
5. Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment, including determining equipment repairs.
6. Maintains radiographic supplies, durable medical equipment (DME) and other clinical supplies and orders as necessary.
7. Fitting and placing orthopedic braces, splints, cam walkers/boots or other orthopedic DME supplies as directed by physician(s) or APP.
8. Cast removal as directed by physician(s) or APP.
9. Direct patient care, patient vitals, rooming of patients, and obtaining health history with proficient use of documentation of electronic medical record system.
10. Assists all staff including nurse and receptionist with other duties, including but not limited to electronic filing, patient paperwork, front office receptionist, etc.
11. Practices aseptic technique
12. Maintains the integrity of confidential patient information in accordance to HIPAA and hospital policy, including accessing, using and disclosing patient information relevant to the individual employee’s job duties. Also maintains confidentiality of other customer and hospital business affairs.
13. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements. Ensures compliance with Joint Commission and other external and internal regulatory agencies.
14. Performs other office duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
• Graduate of an approved radiography program meeting the requirements of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) required
• Licensed through the state of Ohio as a radiographer required
• Current BLS Certification required
• 1-3 years of experience as a radiologic technologist preferred
• Experience in medical practice environment as a radiologic technologist preferred
