Job Summary

The Department Secretary’s responsibilities include the coordination of administrative duties and public relations duties with their given program/department.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains a line of communication between the patient, family, clinical staff and team members
  • Performs receptionist and clerical duties including but not limited to: monitoring and maintaining the electronic medical record, coordinating communication between patients and medical staff, greeting and checking in patients and families, utilizing the computer for data
  • Complete tasks related to the operations of their specific department including but not limited to: coordinating meetings, ordering supplies, running reports, and coordinating department events
  • Addresses customer issues including but not limited to: providing service excellence to patients and their families that meets or exceeds patient expectations through offering empathetic and compassionate patient-centered care; professionally managing patients, families and caregivers' needs and concerns using positive service recovery methods; responding to patient requests and makes active referrals to subject matter expert/decision-maker who can fulfill the patient request; providing culturally sensitive care
  • Perform other duties as required

Education/Experience Requirements

REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of college     
PREFERRED:
  • Liberals Arts or Secretarial Degree

Licensure/Certification Requirements

PREFERRED:

  • Certified Health Unit Coordinator
