Munson is seeking a dedicated Grounds Worker to maintain the appearance and upkeep of all Munson properties. This role also supports other departments as needed.

Schedule:
Monday through Friday, day shift, with occasional additional hours or weekend work as required.

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Perform groundskeeping duties such as planting, pruning, fertilizing, transplanting flowers, trees, shrubs, removal of litter, mowing, edging, weeding, removal of snow/ice from parking lots/driveways/walking surfaces/stairways

  • Assists in construction of annual summer arts festival fencing, stage, and Fountain Elms Invitational

  • Assist with other projects in maintenance, custodial or other areas when needed

  • Make pick up and deliveries for all Institute departments, which could include office moves, exhibition pedestals/risers/furniture, dorm furniture, items from painting/storage or other storage areas

  • Make trash pickups and separate recyclables    

  • Performs other duties as assigned    


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • High School diploma or equivalent and previous job-related experience helpful 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record

  • Effective organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks, work independently, and follow through on all assignments with minimal direction.

  • Basic personal computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages and post information


Equipment Requirements and Abilities: 

  • Must be over the age of 18

  • Basic knowledge of small engine maintenance or repair with training provided on care of grounds equipment

  • Operation of all types of gasoline, diesel, and power equipment (plow truck, 4wd tractor)

  • Ability to safely operate grounds power equipment (zero turn mower, ride on tractor, push mower, string trimmer, snow thrower, chain saw, leaf blower, hedge trimmer, aerator, sod cutter, leaf vacuum, etc.)

  • Ability to safely operate a plow truck, UTV (Bobcat), broom, compact tractor with loader.

  • Ability to safely tow and backup a 12’ dump trailer with electric brakes.

  • Will operate all types of handheld gasoline power equipment (i.e. Lawnmower, String Trimmer, Hedge Trimmer etc).  


Physical Activities and Demands: 

The Grounds Worker will regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, sit, climb and may lift and carry heavy (up to 50 lbs.) materials throughout the day. Significant portions of daily assignments involve application of manual skills requiring motor coordination in combination with finger dexterity. A majority of the work is subject to seasonal conditions and weather extremes.


The final candidate will be required to complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check.

Regular Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
