Job Summary
Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic mammography at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis
- Assume responsibility for specified radiographic mammography as required
- May have individual responsibility for specified radiographic procedures and/or may be assigned duties as an instructor
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
- Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure
- Assists in maintaining basic records and reports
- Assists in maintaining files
- Performs daily quality assurance procedures in the mammography area
- Perform other duties as required.
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of formal Medical Radiography training in an AMA approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
Preferred:
- 2-3 years job related experience
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
- New York State license for practice in Medical Radiography
- Certified in Mammography by the ARRT
- ACR certification
