Senior Sommelier – TavernettaĀ VailĀ Ā Ā 

Four Seasons Vail and James Beard Award winners Frasca Hospitality Group, led by Chef Lachlan Mackinnon-Patterson, Master Sommelier Bobby Stuckey, and Peter Hoglund, have collaborated to createĀ TavernettaĀ Vail. Part of the Frasca Hospitality Group, home to the Michelin-starred Frasca Food and Wine,Ā TavernettaĀ Denver is recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand and is known for its genuine hospitality and authentic Italian fare.Ā 

The group has expanded to include the Italian and European inspired eateries of Pizzeria Alberico and Sunday Vinyl and seek to continue this dedication to providing warm and gracious hospitality with the opening ofĀ TavernettaĀ Vail at the Four Seasons Resort by hiring enthusiastic, ambitious, and humble staff to uphold a culture of excellence, education, and respect.Ā Ā 

About The Role:   

The primary responsibility of theĀ TavernettaĀ Vail Senior Sommelier is to set the team up for successful service through proper maintenance of the administrative duties of the wine program, to lead the entire Front Of House team by leading through great habits on the floor (i.e. ā€œall eyes on meā€, i.e. ā€œleading by exampleā€), and to effectively communicate regularly with the General Manager.Ā AdditionalĀ tasks include completing monthly inventory and weekly ordering for the beverage program, along with day-to-day operations of the restaurant.Ā Ā Sommeliers will be held to the Court of MasterĀ SommeliersĀ standards of service, theory and tasting.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā 

What You Will Do:   

  • Develop andĀ maintainĀ the wine program withinĀ TavernettaĀ Vail.Ā Ā 

  • Partner with other Outlet Managers for support and developmentĀ opportunities.Ā Ā 

  • Oversight of beverage program profitabilityĀ 

  • Partner with bartenders on cocktail program and development.Ā Ā 

  • EnsureĀ beverage requisitions are accurately completed and submitted each night.Ā Ā 

  • Development of catering offerings with Sales and Catering team for increasedĀ guestsĀ satisfaction.Ā Ā 

  • Check BEOs for private party orders - make sure wines are in stock for upcoming parties.Ā Ā 

  • Communicate with the Purchasing Department on all wine product needs or issues.Ā Ā 

  • Strong communicationĀ with the entire team about any changes to the wine program.Ā Ā 

  • Staff training and development of regions,Ā varietalsĀ and terroir.Ā Ā 

  • Train team membersĀ onĀ new products.Ā Ā 

  • Inform team about items that are no longer available or have changed.Ā Ā 

What You Bring:   

  • Theory - must have passed/or be pursuing the Advanced Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers or have an equivalent certification and/or experience and knowledge.Ā A theoretical assessment will be given before the interview process.Ā Ā 

  • Attitude - willingness to learn in aĀ fast paced, high-volume environment.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Guest - positive interactions and focused on hospitality.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā 

  • Teamwork - must be a conscientious individual that hasĀ a strong senseĀ of teamwork and the confidence to strive to be better than the day before.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Mentorship - a strong understanding ofĀ the teachingĀ and development of staff.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Understanding inventory,Ā purchasing, beverage, and invoice reconciliation.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Communication - Must haveĀ strong communicationĀ skills and be comfortable withĀ numerousĀ daily internal and external email communications, calendar communications, in person communication with co-workers, guests and vendors.Ā Ā 

  • This role has direct contact with guests and as such,Ā good communicationĀ skills are a necessity.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Fluency in English isĀ requiredĀ for thisĀ location,Ā and this job requires applicants to have current work authorization in the in the United States.  Bi-lingual in Italian/Spanish is a plus.Ā Ā 

  • Must be able to stand for 8+ hours.Ā Ā 

Preferred QualificationsĀ Ā 

  • ProficiencyĀ with email, OneDrive (file sharing service), Excel, and Word.Ā Ā 

  • Minimum five plus years in the F&B industry (within the past ten years) with three plus years in a Sommelier role.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Italian wine & culinary knowledge.Ā Ā Ā 

  • Professional and confident verbal and written communication.Ā Ā 

  • Strong ability to multitask.Ā Ā
