Job Description
Legacy Behavioral Health Services is hiring individuals with a passion for making a difference in their community! We are seeking a Certified Peer Specialist Youth. The Certified Peer Specialist Youth under general supervision provides peer support services focused on the Emerging Adult and Adolescent populations. Candidate is a young adult, with experience living with a mental health or substance use condition or both, who has received behavioral health services as a youth, is willing and able to self-identify as a person living with a behavioral health condition and is prepared to use that experience in helping other youth/young adults living with similar behavioral health conditions. CPS-Y will provide services that consist of rehabilitative skills building, development of environmental supports and resources coordination. Listed services are considered essential to assist a person in improving functioning, gaining access to necessary services by creating environments that promotes recovery and supports the emotional and functional improvement of the individual. The Youth CPS will also participate in the engagement and coordination of care of children, adolescents, and young adults with other systems and internal providers.

This position requires:
  • Be 18-26 years of age (valid Georgia ID); and
  • Have a mental health (MH) condition, substance use disorder (SUD), or a co-occurring diagnosis; and a strong desire to identify themselves as a person living with a mental illness or substance use diagnosis; and
  • Be able/willing to actively seek and manage your own appropriate care; and
  • Be able to share their own personal story in a safe and appropriate way;
  • Must be well grounded in recovery wellness
  • One year between diagnosis and application to training If the individual has a substance use condition, there must be one year continuous abstinent from substance use
  • High school diploma or GED; required

Working Conditions:
聽Must be physically and emotionally fit to work in a stress-filled environment to meet deadlines and deal with routine and crisis situations. May have extended periods of sitting, walking, and standing. Requires varying hours of duty to provide monitoring, educational and/or crisis handling, as well as travel to off campus locations in LBHS or personal vehicle.

El especialista certificado en pares para j贸venes, bajo supervisi贸n general, brinda servicios de apoyo entre pares enfocados en las poblaciones emergentes de adultos y adolescentes. El candidato es un adulto joven, con experiencia viviendo con una condici贸n de salud mental o uso de sustancias o ambas, que ha recibido servicios de salud conductual cuando era joven, est谩 dispuesto y es capaz de identificarse como una persona que vive con una condici贸n de salud conductual y est谩 preparado para usar esa experiencia para ayudar a otros j贸venes/adultos j贸venes que viven con condiciones de salud conductual similares. CPS-Y brindar谩 servicios que consisten en el desarrollo de habilidades de rehabilitaci贸n, desarrollo de apoyos ambientales y coordinaci贸n de recursos. Los servicios enumerados se consideran esenciales para ayudar a una persona a mejorar su funcionamiento, obtener acceso a los servicios necesarios mediante la creaci贸n de entornos que promuevan la recuperaci贸n y respalden la mejora emocional y funcional del individuo. El CPS para j贸venes tambi茅n participar谩 en la participaci贸n y coordinaci贸n de la atenci贸n de ni帽os, adolescentes y adultos j贸venes con otros sistemas y proveedores internos.
