Description

 

The City of Valdosta Utilities Department is accepting applications for the position of full time Utility Maintenance Technician. This position’s duties include:

  • performing technical duties in the maintenance and repair of a water or wastewater treatment plant.
  • Assisting in the maintenance and repair of plant equipment; performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of maintenance records.
  • Assisting in the modification and installation of equipment and parts.
  • Monitoring plant observations and reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor. Operates a filter press.
  • Operating a front-end loader and other equipment as needed. Cuts grass and maintains plant grounds. Assists in the rebuilding of system books. Cleans and maintains plant tanks.

Requirements

 

  • Knowledge of treatment plant processes and procedures, city and department policies and procedures, work safety principles and practices, data acquisition and records preparation principles
  • Skills in the operation and maintenance of job-related tools and equipment, inspection of plant processes and the recording of related data, operation of assigned vehicles, oral and written communication
  • At least one (1) to two (2) years’ experience in a related field
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must satisfactorily complete a background check, drug test and pre-employment physical
