Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Benefits: Eligible
Wage Range: $20.00 – $22.60 per hour (based on experience and certification)
Position Summary
Cherry County Hospital and Clinic is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join our team. This role supports the pharmacist in delivering safe and effective patient care by performing a variety of technical and administrative pharmacy duties. All responsibilities are carried out under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and in accordance with Nebraska DHHS Pharmacy Statutes.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter medication orders into the computerized system for pharmacist verificationÂ
- Prepare daily medication fills and deliver to patient care areasÂ
- Restock and maintain automated medication systems and floor stockÂ
- Assist in preparing IV additives and chemotherapy under pharmacist supervisionÂ
- Package medications and check for expiration datesÂ
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility of IV preparation areasÂ
- Perform patient home medication reconciliationÂ
- Process medication orders and update records as neededÂ
- Restock pharmacy inventory and suppliesÂ
- Audit and reconcile patient medication chargesÂ
- Assist with medication pricing updates and billing supportÂ
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessionsÂ
- Follow all safety, infection control, and emergency protocolsÂ
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environmentÂ
- Ensure strict confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance)Â
- Adhere to all hospital, departmental, and corporate compliance policiesÂ
- Perform additional duties as assignedÂ
Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to read, write, and understand policies and proceduresÂ
- Basic computer proficiencyÂ
- Strong communication and organizational skillsÂ
- Good attention to detail and comprehension abilitiesÂ
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changeÂ
- Knowledge of confidentiality laws and healthcare privacy standardsÂ
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to stand, move, and restock supplies throughout the shiftÂ
- Capability to safely handle medications and use protective equipmentÂ
- Comfortable performing routine computer-based tasks
Requirements
 Minimum Job Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Completed pharmacy technician training per regulation, or certification obtained within 6 months of hire
- Previous hospital/pharmacy experience preferred but not required
- Must not have ever been convicted of any drug-related misdemeanor or felony
