CWI Works is recruiting is recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer position within the NFS Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program through a grant administered program which provides support to the U.S. Forest Service (NFS). Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States. Selected candidates will also be required to undergo a federal security background check.

Role and Responsibilities:

Serve the regional engineering program as a Geotechnical Engineer. Primary functions include providing review and advice on regional abandoned mine land projects and providing mentoring and training to Forest Service Project Managers. Will work on mine restoration and abandoned mine projects.

Duties include:

  • Review and comment on prepared active and Abandoned Mine Land (AML) and environmental site reports and documents
  • Assist in the preparation of Abandoned Mined Lands, environmental and active mine site documents and reports.
  • Provide AML, environmental and minerals administration guidance and monitoring to Forest Service Project Managers and field staff during site visits

Qualifications and Education Requirements: 

Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States; able to pass a Federal Background check; BA/BSHS diploma with 10+ years’ experience. Experience in specialized engineering projects and design. Understanding and knowledge of engineering, professional and agency standards related to Abandoned Mine Lands, and Engineering Environmental Mine Remediation. Travel to field sites for inspections.

Hours & Compensation:

 Part-Time position working up to 20 hours per week @ $80.00.
