Job Summary

Job Description

1): The co-op intern will focus on learning and help in physical and chemical characterization as well as synthesis of chemical samples to support strategic projects in multiple QH product lines. The position resides in the Quaker Houghton Exploratory Synthesis group.

2): Job Responsibilities/Activities

a: Run chemical syntheses utilizing condensation, polymerization, or catalytic hydrosilylation techniques.

b: Purify reaction products using various chromatographic techniques.

c: Characterize products using TLC, NMR, FTIR, and other techniques as needed. Collaborate with Analytical Research group as needed.

d: Report technical results at biweekly group meetings as requested; present a final presentation on internship project at the end of the summer.

3): Qualifications

Second- or third-year student majoring in chemistry (Preferred) or chemical engineering.

Successful completion of organic chemistry lab at the collegiate level is required.
