DuPont has an immediate opening for an experienced Assistant Laboratory Cell Leader at our Valley View, OH site!

The Laboratory Assistant Cell Leader is responsible for the oversight of the Laboratory in the Quality Department at DuPont Valley View. In this capacity, the Assistant Cell Leader directs the overall workflow for the Lab and assists the Quality Manager in making personnel management decisions for all team members employed in the Lab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned as business needs occur):

  • Identify testing improvements and support Engineering to implement.

  • Perform equipment evaluation for life cycles

  • Conduct time studies and improve testing efficiencies

  • Support and conduct rapid protype cell testing as required

  • Maintain calibration intervals for test lab equipment

  • Host contractors supporting the laboratory activities

  • Monitor Traksys and workflow through test lab

  • Participate in RCCA as test lab representative

  • Responsible for training new test lab technicians/associates

  • Work with TS&D group for equipment improvements, capacity, and shared resource management

  • Manage daily workflow of lab

  • Perform quality testing on inbound and outbound products and materials in accordance with DuPont test methods and record, report and analyze data where necessary to assure product quality and traceability

  • Be able to recognize non-conforming data occurrences and issue Non-conforming Material Reports wherever appropriate

  • Review quality documentation for proper certification and release of incoming material

  • Coordinate external material testing where applicable

  • Prepare internal and customer test reports

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overseeing the Laboratory technicians in the Lab

    • ensuring that all technicians achieve and maintain a high and efficient production level, while the group maintains DuPont safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.

  • Ensure a respectful work environment and aim to promote the individual growth of all technicians (including soft skills development).

  • Conflict resolution capabilities and a willingness to seek win-win solutions are critical within a work cell, along with making recommendations to the Quality Manager on employee promotions, special recognitions, and disciplinary actions.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE - To perform this job successfully, a candidate must have:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.  Associate degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or other related fields is preferred.

  • 1-year minimum DuPont experience OR 3 years or more experience working in a laboratory in a manufacturing/operations environment.

  • Solid communication skills (i.e. oral, written, and listening)

  • Basic math proficiency

  • Effective verbal/interpersonal skills

  • Intermediate computer skills – Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word), SAP, GUPI, Traksys

  • Participation in site Teams preferred, team leadership highly preferred
