MacKay Sposito is seeking a full-time High Voltage Electrical Inspector to join our team for a high profile substation project in Vancouver, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in electrical construction or related fields who are ready to take the next step in their careers.

In this role you will play a key part in ensuring the safety, quality, and compliance of critical infrastructure projects. You should be confident in interpreting project specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings. Being comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic field environment is key to success.

We're seeking candidates who are strong communicators, tech-savvy, and detail-oriented. You will conduct on-site inspections and documentation for electrical substations, transmission, and distribution systems ensuring all work aligns with project plans, codes, and regulations. When issues arise, you'll work closely with contractors to address them in real time and keep projects moving forward.

You will also serve as an important link between project stakeholders, regularly communicating updates to clients, regulatory agencies, team members, and leadership.

Keys Responsibilities:

  • Effectively document the project through daily reports and photographs.
  • Effectively communicate with the project team including the owner, construction contractor, design team, and project stakeholders.
  • Act as Owner’s Representative to execute a wide range of inspection activities reliably.
  • Maintain composure while under pressure and remain flexible despite interruptions or changes.
  • Work under the direction of a lead construction inspector as well as independently.
  • Seek out continual learning and improvement opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in construction management or engineering degree in related field (electrical, mechanical, or civil) OR Journeyman-level professional experience in the electrical field.
  • Working knowledge of electrical substation systems including but not limited to:
    • Steel structures
    • Electrical equipment
    • Foundations
    • Grounding
    • Telecommunications design
    • Electrical and telecommunications installation
    • Low voltage wiring
    • Optical network systems verification and validation testing for startup and commissioning
    • Communication batteries
    • AC and DC distribution panels and wiring
  • Demonstrated success in working independently to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
  • Ability to walk, lift, carry, stoop, bend, twist and work outdoors on uneven surfaces routinely. A typical work day may include exposure to weather extremes and rough or uneven terrain.
  • Current driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Ability to be insured to drive company vehicles.
  • Must be detail-oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Journeyman-level electrician or skilled craft professional in the electrical field is preferred
  • Substation, distribution, and transmission power line experience.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as various market and business considerations.

The wage range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr, depending on experience and placement in an Electrical Construction Inspector 1-5, dictated by client needs/requirements. 

Full time employees receive a well rounded benefit package including access to our company sponsored Medical (including an HSA High Deductible option), Dental, Vision, FSA, and Supplemental Life Insurance plans as well as company paid Life Insurance, Short Term Disability, and Long Term Disability coverage. Employees are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% match Additionally, employees also receive paid vacation time, paid sick time, and 11 paid holidays. MacKay Sposito pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as annual profit sharing bonuses.
