Job Title: Roaster
Reports To: Warehouse Manager
Wage Information: $19.23/Bonus Eligible
FLSA Status: Hourly/Nonexempt/Full-time

Anticipated Hours: Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm

Position Overview. As a Roaster, you are responsible for executing all aspects of coffee production, from roasting to packaging. You will maintain high standards in quality control, manage green and roasted bean inventory, and ensure consistent supply across locations. In this role, you lead by example, including training Team Members, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and upholding the integrity of our roasting processes. Your technical expertise and collaborative approach help drive both product excellence and team development.

Services and Duties. The Roaster is responsible for executing all aspects of coffee production and supporting daily operational needs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Calculates weekly roasting requirements using data from roasted coffee stock and Shopify orders.
Performs daily coffee roasting to meet store and online order demands.
Conducts comprehensive quality control tasks, including cupping, Roast Rite sampling, and shipping/evaluating product samples.
Adjusts roasting formulas in Cropster and records green coffee bean inventory and pricing.
Follows "first in, first out" practices for green coffee inventory.
Prepares totes and boxes for packing roasted beans.
Refills Jacky dispensers using the Flexicon system.
Packages roasted coffee to fulfill production targets and maintain product freshness.
Operates and maintains roasting and packaging equipment according to the preventive maintenance schedule.
Ensures equipment cleanliness and reports maintenance needs.
Safely operates a forklift when needed.
Receives and documents incoming shipments.
Maintains accurate inventory stock levels.
Participates in weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycle counts.
Maintains a clean, organized, and accessible workspace.
Covers breaks, lunches, and absences for fellow team members as needed.
Assists with facilities upkeep, including bathroom cleaning and trash removal.
Communicates activities clearly and completes required documentation.
Cross-trains in various departments to support overall production needs.

Consistent execution of quality control, equipment maintenance, food safety, and production safety standards.
Reliable teamwork and operational support through clear communication, cross-training, and accountability for daily production needs.

Work Environment. This position operates primarily in a production and warehouse environment. The essential duties of this role require the ability to perform the following physical tasks:

Mobility to navigate production areas, climb ladders, and operate machinery as needed
Manual dexterity to operate tools, machinery, and packaging equipment
Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members and documenting tasks
Visual acuity to monitor roasting processes, read printed materials, and use computer systems
Auditory ability to communicate effectively in person, over phone, or radio
Strength and stamina to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly
Ability to maneuver items weighing up to 150 pounds using hand trucks or other equipment
Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and reaching
Finger dexterity for operating computer keyboards, touchscreen controls, and calculators
Ability to drive and park vehicles, with regular entering and exiting of the vehicle
Safe operation of a forklift truck if required
