POSITION SUMMARY:
To dispense and check prescriptions, oversee the work of the pharmacy technicians, respond to inquiries by physicians, client facilities, and patients. Management skills to promote accuracy of all items dispensed by the pharmacy. Responsible for the continuation of pharmacy management’s goals and objectives within the dispensing pharmacy.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Dispense and verify prescriptions according to Federal and State regulations, dosage, strength, patient allergies, disease states, drug interactions and formularies.
- Provide physicians, nurses, and patients with therapeutic recommendations and/or medication information and when necessary to resolve patient issues.
- Assist in obtaining necessary information for billing purposes.
- Sign for receipt of medications and supplies delivered by wholesalers or other suppliers.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining controlled substance records.
- Verify and update Emergency Kits for accuracy of product, expiration dates, and general appearance.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of safety standards for the pharmacy.
- Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., to keep current and up to date in healthcare and pharmacy related issues.
- Investigates any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities reported to Compliance Officer
- Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies.
- Participate in the Pharmacy’s Performance Improvement Program as requested by the Performance Improvement Coordinator.
- Participate in pharmacy committees when requested.
- Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy.
- Performs other duties as required
- Abide by the company Drug Free Workplace policy. Drug screening is conducted at hire, or may be conducted company-wide, or on request upon reasonable suspicion.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. Minimum requirements include a B.S. in pharmacy, PharmD. preferred.
2 .Must be a licensed pharmacist in Washington and Oregon
3. Prefer a minimum of 3-4 years experience as a consulting pharmacist in a long-term care setting.
4. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to move freely among facilities.
5. Knowledge of, use, and practice of excellent customer services skills, including telephone skills
6. Must be friendly, cooperative and a team player7.Must have a professional appearance.
8. Basic computer skills, proficient in required computer software
