Senior Staff Accountant



Department: Finance and Administration

Reports To: CFO

Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting the finance and accounting department by general daily accounting and finance tasks, preparing general ledger entries, assisting with month end processes for financial statements, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

 

This role works cross-functionally with sales, operations, and finance/administration to ensure excellent internal and external customer service.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help to develop and manage processes and procedures for third party selling platforms and agents such as Amazon, maintain oversight of reconciliation and reporting.
  • Support AP and AR for complex account reconciliation, and multi-site management
  • Process multi state monthly and quarterly SALT filings
  • Audit internal controls and processes and document work instructions. Build templates or workbooks where needed and recommend continuous improvement items
  • Build and help to manage central information repository for standard items such as recurring expenses, subscriptions, methods of payment, etc.
  • Lead month end close via journal entry preparation and entry, supporting schedules, accruals, allowances, and internal audit
  • Implement and manage monthly process and billing for 3PL/reseller inventory and sales
  • Assist international operations and support staff as needed, lead initiative to drive redundancy across all companies worldwide
  • Act as point of contact in the absence of CFO
  • Assist with various projects such as international banking transitions, 3PL revenue stream set up, and monthly KPI analytics
  • Perform month end reconciliations and tasks as directed

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years in a general accounting or finance role, with an overall understanding of all functions within a business accounting department
  • Ability to operate standard office software platforms and ERP system
  • Ability to understand work within guidelines of best practices in an inventory/distribution centric organization
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strict attention to detail and data accuracy
  • General banking and cash management knowledge
  • General understanding and practical application of GAAP
  • Maintain general knowledge of product, inventory, and customer base
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without direct supervision



Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing accounting processes in a similar industry
  • International finance, supply chain, or customer base experience
  • 5+ years experience with accounting and ERP software
  • Intermediate Excel skills (basic formulas, building templates for recurring tasks and analyzing data)



Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit and perform data processing for a majority of the work day
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment
