Full and Part-Time Job Coach and Life Skill Support Specialist for High School Students


The Transition Job Coach helps high school students with disabilities successfully transition from school to adult employment and independence. You will provide hands-on job training, behavioral coaching, classroom style instruction and safety supervision at volunteer and community worksites such as local retail stores, restaurants, hotels and much more.

Employment Option:


  • Part-Time employees have the option to work a typical 10-month school year with summers off and then start back when school year starts up. Or they can work year-round working for our extended school year program and by supporting other departments until new school year begins.
  • Full-Time employees work year round.


Status:

  • Part-Time, 4-week days, daylight, 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Full-Time, 5 days week, daylight, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.


Wage: $18.40 / Hourly Wage

Key Responsibilities

  • Life Skills Instruction: Teach classroom and community-based lessons on topics such as self-advocacy, budgeting, and navigating public transportation.
  • Hands-on Job Coaching: Teach students proper work habits, business etiquette, and the physical tasks needed to do their jobs. This occurs daily in the community through volunteer activities, job shadows, and paid work activities.
  • Progress Documentation and Goal Tracking: Implement and record progress on students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and behavioral support plans by writing clear and professional case notes.
  • Student Transportation: Safely drive students to and from various community worksites using your personal vehicle or company vans. Mileage reimbursement is provided when using personal vehicle.
  • Quality & Production Control: When at a worksite will monitor the students' work output to ensure it meets the quality standards and production quotas of the hiring business.
  • Community Relations: Maintain a professional relationship with business managers at worksites while maintaining student confidentiality.


Job Requirements

  • Education & Experience: Minimum requirement is a high school diploma (or GED) plus 1 year of experience in general industry, manufacturing, or rehabilitation or 30 completed college credits from an accredited institution.
  • Transportation: A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and daily access to a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Clearances: Must pass a mandatory criminal background check.
