Job Description

 

Position Title: Quality Engineer

Department: Operations

Reports to: Operations Manager

Salary Range: Full time $90K to $100K

Principal Accountabilities:

  • The Quality Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes that meet product specifications and adhere to established quality standards. This role evaluates and improves production methods, process controls, and quality assurance systems to enhance product consistency and manufacturing efficiency. A key responsibility includes monitoring production yields and implementing corrective actions to improve yield performance and reduce waste. This is a hands-on position working directly with production in Operations. The engineer also leads and supports the launch of new or revised products, ensuring all quality and process requirements are met throughout the product lifecycle.

 

  • Manufacturing and Quality Process Support
  • Ensure production has the tools, equipment, and procedures needed to perform their duties and that they are in proper working order and correct.
  • Respond to customer compliance requests regarding RoHS, REACH, PFAS, POP, Conflict Material, etc.
  • Ensure products are built properly and meet our customers' requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 quality management standards. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain quality documentation. Perform and support audits and uphold processes to achieve quality objectives.
  • Carries out product process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.
  • Improves product manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
  • Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members.
  • Assists Production manager/leads in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
  • Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
  • Create and maintain QMS procedures as related to engineering functions
  • Maintain processes as the designated process owner.
  • Corrective action evaluation, resolution, and solutions for product-based variation
  • Documentations support as needed.
  • Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency.
  • Responsible for oversight of products through the entire manufacturing process, monitoring yields through process & inspection tollgates, and taking actions as necessary to improve yield and overall product flow.

Minimum Qualifications:

4-year college degree

4 -year relevant experience in manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with standard computer applications

US citizen or Permanent Resident as we build ITAR controlled defense cables

 

Minimum Competencies:

Excellent verbal/written interpersonal skills

Excellent computer skills

Familiarity with problem solving techniques

Be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline

3 years previous electronics assembly experience

3 years previous experience in an ISO9001 environment

Formal Lean Manufacturing training (classes and/or certificate)

 

Preferred Competencies:

A passion for analytical problem solving

Previous experience with CheckPoint / CircuitCAM
