A Simmonds Precision Information Technology (IT) intern will play a vital role in site desktop deployment along with documentation of IT processes. While specific duties vary by role, most IT positions center on maintaining the technical backbone of an organization to ensure operational efficiency and data integrity. As Simmonds moves from their current set of IT systems to identifying, implementing and supporting their own, this is an ideal time to get hands-on experience in information technology.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Infrastructure Management: Installing, configuring, and maintaining IT hardware (Desktops, laptops, servers, routers, switches) and software (operating systems, applications). Assist IT in deploying new networks and end user devices.
Inventory Management: Assist with tracking and documentation of corporate hardware, and software license inventory.
Documentation & Training: Creating technical manuals, documenting troubleshooting steps & processes, and training non-technical staff on new software or security best practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Education: Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science or related fields.
Citizenship: US. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, Linux, macOS), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and basic scripting (Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
