Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the company’s import compliance program, policies, and internal controls
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, including those impacting defense articles, dual-use goods, and repairs
  • Oversee HTS classification, customs valuation, and country-of-origin determinations
  • Ensure alignment with export-controlled frameworks such as International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR) where applicable to imports and repairs
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, international carriers including FedEx, DHL, and UPS, and global suppliers to ensure timely customs clearance, resolve import documentation/compliance issues, and prevent delays impacting production and customer deliveries.
  • Manage customs brokers and ensure accurate and timely responses and filings
  • Lead internal audits and compliance reviews of import transactions
  • Support and prepare for government audits, disclosures, and investigations
  • Maintain documentation and recordkeeping in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Identify and implement duty savings strategies (e.g., FTAs, duty drawback, special programs)
  • Manage monthly Import reporting requirements to business
  • Partner with engineering, procurement, and program management teams to ensure compliance in sourcing-controlled components
  • Support and deliver employee training on import compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor global trade regulatory changes impacting aerospace and defense imports
  • Crosstrain on export processes and logistics to support the business, as needed
  • Other International trade duties as required  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business management, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in import compliance, preferably in aerospace, defense, or a highly regulated industry
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. import regulations and interaction with ITAR/EAR-controlled environments
  • Experience working with government agencies and managing audits
  • Licensed Customs Brokers (LCB) encouraged  
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and trade compliance software
