General JOB Description

The Material Flow Lead directs the movement of material and projects across the shop, tackling one of Masaba’s top challenges: material flow. Because Production Control knows the status of every job, pairing that visibility with direct oversight of the loaders and material handlers lets us stage and move material to the right place at the right time. The role manages upstream material flow from metals & welding through blast, paint and to assembly, and grows into production analytics to anticipate needs. Part of this role is spent in assembly under the Assembly Supervisor’s mentorship. All material handlers and loader operators report here, except the warehouse. This role exists to support the floor.

key responsibilities

  • Lead the loaders and material handlers (excluding warehouse) and direct material flow across the shop.
  • Manage upstream material flow from metals to assembly; keep projects staged where they need to be.
  • Use project-status knowledge to move material ahead of need — especially jobs heading to paint and assembly.
  • Spend a third of scheduled time in assembly, mentored by the Assembly Supervisor.
  • Develop production analytics; monitor project statuses to anticipate moves.

qualifications

  • Highly effective team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills & analytical skills
  • Hands-on understanding of material handling and shop logistics.
  • Ability to lead a team of material handlers and coordinate across departments.
  • Willingness to develop data-analytics and status-monitoring skills.
  • Close working relationship with metals, weld, assembly and blast/paint.
