Position Summary

Supports the Distribution Center in Shipping, Receiving, Packaging or Returns.

Role Expectations

To ensure the safe, efficient and accurate movement, storage and processing of materials throughout ZF Vernon Hills operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Must be able to perform all Distribution Center Tech I (Packaging) & Material Handler 2 duties.
  • Work with CSR and Product Management on resolving issues in Shipping, Receiving and Production.
  • Investigate POD through traffic department and carrier contracts and complete International Customs Documents for customer orders.
  • Inspect, sort, store and perform data entry for all returned goods and all core, inbound part/unit, and non-compliant shipments according to established ISO procedures.
  • Bill credits for returned goods that meet ISO Claims Policy. Bill orders and send ASN’s according to customer requests.
  • Pick and pack assigned parts according to shop order pick tags and customer order notes.
  • Support further shop order activity by opening orders, issuing (single, multiple and miscellaneous) orders and returning excess parts to stock. Transfer stock physically and electronically as needed.
  • Weight, route, stage and load freight according to customer order notes and carrier shipping instructions. Release (Pull) orders for picking according to customer requested ship date.
  • Provide backup for Distribution Center Supervisors.
  • Provide leadership including training to colleagues within a functional work group.
  • Support safety and good housekeeping in the performance of Distribution Center duties.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous distribution/warehouse experience required.
  • Intermediate PC skills required.
  • Exposure to TQM’s and knowledge of QS/ISO 9000.
  • Forklift experience  (Reach truck, Manup & Sitdown) and proper use of hand tools required.

  • Working knowledge of ZF part numbers and family descriptions a plus.

Work Environment:  While performing the duties of the job, the associate is exposed to a manufacturing floor atmosphere with some office exposure.
