Position Overview

Vero Orthopaedics is seeking a skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to join our growing team. This position offers a unique opportunity to work alongside fellowship-trained physicians in the clinical setting, providing comprehensive patient care throughout the continuum of treatment. This position will also have the opportunity to assist physicians in our in-office procedure rooms.

The Nurse Practitioner will evaluate and treat patients in the clinic, assist with preoperative and postoperative management, provide perioperative assessments, and collaborate closely with physicians, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and rehabilitation professionals to optimize patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, a patient-centered approach, excellent communication abilities, and experience caring for surgical patients in a fast-paced environment. Experience in orthopaedics and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing is strongly preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in the clinic under physician supervision and collaborative practice agreements.
  • Conduct new patient consultations, follow-up visits, and postoperative evaluations.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Order, review, and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging studies, and laboratory results.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and postoperative care.
  • Perform preoperative history and physical examinations and assist in surgical clearance processes as appropriate.
  • Provide postoperative patient management, including wound evaluations, pain management, medication adjustments, and coordination of follow-up care.
  • Assess and manage patients throughout the perioperative continuum, utilizing prior PACU and surgical recovery experience to identify complications and promote safe recovery.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation providers, nursing staff, and care coordinators to ensure continuity of care.
  • Round on patients at the local rehabilitation hospital as needed and assist with care coordination and discharge planning.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely within the electronic medical record.
  • Participate in call coverage responsibilities as assigned.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and best practices related to surgical and perioperative patient care.

Qualifications

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Current Florida APRN license or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • National certification as a Nurse Practitioner (FNP, AGNP, ACNP, or related specialty).
  • Current DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to employment.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.


Preferred

  • Orthopaedic experience.
  • Prior Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience.
  • Experience caring for surgical and postoperative patients.
  • ACLS certification.
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR).
  • Experience in perioperative, orthopedic, surgical, emergency department, or critical care settings.


Schedule

Full-Time

Monday – Friday

Schedule may vary based on clinic, surgery, hospital rounding, and call responsibilities.

Additional Requirements

Must pass a background check and drug screen.
