Description

The Supervisor of Upholstery is responsible for managing the daily operations of the upholstery department within the Jonathan Louis Mississippi manufacturing facility. This position partners closely with Production Leadership to ensure production schedules, quality expectations, staffing, safety, and operational goals are achieved.


The Supervisor of Upholstery is accountable for driving productivity, supporting employee development, maintaining workflow efficiency, and helping establish a positive, high-performing culture during the continued growth of the Mississippi operation.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing daily upholstery production activities to ensure schedules and operational goals are achieved
  • Coordinate with Production, Scheduling, Inventory Management, QC, Maintenance, and other department leaders to maintain smooth production flow
  • Monitor department productivity, labor utilization, and workflow efficiency
  • Ensure products are built according to Jonathan Louis’ quality standards and approved production specifications
  • Train, coach, and develop upholstery employees on safety, quality, workmanship, and production expectations
  • Monitor employee attendance, staffing levels, vacation requests, and department coverage needs
  • Support onboarding and training of new employees
  • Assist leadership with establishing department goals, production expectations, and process improvement initiatives
  • Help identify and resolve production issues, material shortages, workflow bottlenecks, or quality concerns
  • Ensure raw materials, fabric kits, foam, and production components are properly staged and utilized
  • Maintain accurate employee timecards, production reporting, and department documentation
  • Promote a culture focused on accountability, teamwork, customer service, and continuous improvement
  • Support implementation of safety initiatives and ensure employees follow all company safety procedures
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the upholstery department
  • Work closely with leadership during startup, training, and operational ramp-up activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support business and operational needs

Requirements

  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing, upholstery, furniture production, or related production environments preferred
  • Knowledge of upholstery processes, production flow, materials, and manufacturing operations preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee coaching skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to read and understand production schedules and operational reports
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and customer expectations
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, production reporting, or ERP systems preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the production floor for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, lift, push, and move materials throughout the workday as needed
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying temperatures, noise, dust, and production activity
  • Ability to occasionally lift materials or products within company-established limits
