Description

The Packager is responsible for the final assembly, inspection, protection, and packaging of upholstered furniture products prior to shipment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring products are accurately matched, properly protected, labeled correctly, and prepared for safe delivery to customers. The Packager supports production schedules while maintaining Jonathan Louis International (“JL”) quality, safety, and customer service standards.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Read and follow production schedules, work orders, production tags, and packaging instructions accurately. 
  • Collect and verify the correct cushions, pillows, legs, hardware, and other components required for each furniture item. 
  • Match cushions, pillows, and components by color, style, fabric, and part number to ensure product accuracy and quality standards are met. 
  • Inspect finished furniture products and packaging materials for quality, completeness, and damage prior to shipment preparation. 
  • Properly place protective materials including corrugated cardboard, plastic coverings, corner protectors, leg protectors, and other packaging materials according to product specifications. 
  • Ensure all required labels, tags, barcodes, and shipping documentation are accurate, visible, and properly attached to packaged items. 
  • Wrap, bag, tape, or box finished products securely to protect items during storage and transportation. 
  • Verify all package contents are complete and secured before sealing packaging materials. 
  • Coordinate with supervisors and production teams to ensure materials and products are ready according to production schedules. 
  • Assist with moving, staging, and organizing finished goods within the department as needed. 
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment in accordance with company housekeeping and safety standards. 
  • Follow all company procedures, quality standards, and safety guidelines. 
  • Support teamwork and collaboration across departments to ensure efficient workflow and on-time shipment readiness. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental and operational needs. 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Previous manufacturing, packaging, warehouse, or furniture production experience preferred. 
  • Ability to read and follow production schedules, labels, tags, and instructions accurately. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. 
  • Good organizational, time management, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. 
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods of time. 
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move furniture components and packaging materials within established weight guidelines. 
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise, and limited climate control. 
  • Ability to safely use packaging tools, tape dispensers, hand tools, and material handling equipment as required. 
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by company safety standards.
