Company Overview
Metrea delivers effects-as-a-service to national security partners across five domains and more than a dozen mission areas, including airborne ISR, electronic warfare, secure communications, aerial refueling, special mission aviation, aerial firefighting, digital twin simulations and advanced sensing.
Ā
Capability Area:

The Electromagnetic and Cyber Group (EM&C) inside Metrea develops and builds systems for communications and RF sensing. Within EM&C, the Radar Lab (RADLAB) is our radar capability area. RADLAB is a small team building novel sensing capabilities from the ground up, taking ideas from physics and math through simulation, prototype, and test.

Position Summary

We're looking for a Senior DSP Engineer to design, implement, and validate radar signal processing algorithms in production C++. You'll work closely with the Head of RADLAB, R&D staff, and other engineers to turn research concepts into fast, tested, profiled, and reproducible code. This is a small lab doing novel work. You'll see your algorithms run on real hardware, real time, on real missions.

Role and ResponsibilitiesĀ

ļ‚· Implement and validate radar signal processing algorithms, such as digital beamforming, signal detection, Doppler estimation, and digital filtering in modern C++.

ļ‚· Own the reference processing chain: unit and integration tests, golden vector validation inside our CI/CD pipelines.Ā

ļ‚·Ā  Run simulation campaigns (Monte Carlo, sensitivity sweeps) and document results.Ā

ļ‚· Profile performance and identify numerical stability issues, bottlenecks, and optimization opportunities.Ā

ļ‚· Translate mathematical specifications into correct, maintainable, testable code, and push back when the math needs revisiting.Ā

ļ‚· Deploy your work onto RADLAB hardware and ensure algorithm designs are feasible under real-time constraints.

Required Skills and ExperienceĀ

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science,Applied Math, Physicsora related field.
  • 8+ years implementing signal processing algorithms in C or C++.
  • Strong applied math: comfortable reading derivationsand designingand implementingnumerical algorithms for computing the results.
  • Experiencevalidatingalgorithm implementations against analyticalderivations,simulatedground truth,or measureddata.
  • Software engineering discipline: version control, testing, documentation, code review.
  • Clear technical writing.
  • A commitment to engineering and mathematical rigorto advance the state of the art in RF sensing.

Bonus QualificationsĀ

  • Radar-specific experience is a plus, not a prerequisite. Ifyou'vebuilt signal processing systems in comms, sonar, or medical imaging and want to learn radar, we want to talk to you.
  • Modern C++ fluency (C++17/20, templates, concepts).
  • Python for prototyping, analysis, and test automation.
  • GPU-accelerated signal processing.
  • FPGA experience.HLS (C++-based) is sufficient; RTL is notrequired. You'llhave the opportunity to learn if youhaven'tdone it.
  • Familiarity with SDR platforms or radar hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • APhDdegree with a thesisina radar or statistical signal processing topic.

Work Authorization / Security ClearanceĀ

  • U.S. Citizenship
