Provide quality personal training to Westwood Country Club members and their guests.


Westwood Country Club and Fitness Facilities

Westwood Country Club was founded in 1954 and is a member-owned, full-service, family-oriented club that has been established to provide its membership with outstanding recreational, dining and social opportunities. Westwood Country Club is a 157-acre property with an elegantly appointed clubhouse, an 18-hole golf course, a tennis facility (indoor and outdoor courts), fitness center and a swimming facility. Westwood offers a superior location on Maple Avenue, in close proximity to Tyson’s Corner.  


The Fitness Center was built in 2022 and features a welcoming lobby and reception space with retail display, a large multi-functional group fitness studio, a multi-purpose training studio, a stretch studio, and 6,000+ square feet of brand-new cardio and strength equipment from Life Fitness.


Job Tasks/Duties

  •  Provides one-on-one fitness instruction to members desiring a program tailored to their specific needs.
  •  Evaluates clients' physical fitness and keeps track of their progress.
  •  Develops programs and selects exercises that provide the optimum results and includes activities the client enjoys.
  •  Acts as motivator to clients.
  •  Able to demonstrate the movements and exercises recommended.
  •  Provides encouragement, motivation and support for members and clients.
  •  Completes necessary information each day to bill personal training services.
  •  Reviews any and all crediting/refunds with Director of Fitness & Wellness before completing transactions. 
  •  Answers Fitness Center’s telephone, takes messages and directs calls, as needed.
  •  Provides equipment usage instructions, makes necessary adjustments and answers questions about proper techniques and fitness.
  •  Keeps up with equipment issues and communicates these to the Director of Fitness & Wellness.
  •  Picks up weights and any dangerous items throughout the day in the workout room.
  •  Monitors workout and group exercise room for potential accidents and problems.
  •  Performs other duties as required or requested by the Director of Fitness & Wellness. 
  •  Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.


Licenses and Special Requirements

  •  Certification from a recognized and accredited program such as that offered by the National Federation of Personal Trainers (NFPT), the American Council on Exercise (ACE), the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), or the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) desirable.
  •  First Aid and CPR/AED certification.


Requirements

Education and/or Experience

  •  A health- and fitness-focused undergraduate degree in Physical Education with a concentration or coursework in nutrition, exercise physiology or kinesiology preferred.
  •  One to two years of experience as a personal trainer at a commercial gym, fitness franchise operation or private club.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  •  Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  •  Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach, walk, stand, stoop, climb stairs, balance and/or crouch.
  •  Physical exertion over long periods of time.
