We're seeking a highly motivated Environmental Compliance Specialist - NPDES / POL / Tanks with an education and/or background in environmental sciences and regulatory compliance to support our team at Cape Canaveral and Patrick Space Force locations. If you have experience with Water Quality, Registered Tanks and Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant (POL) Management and are interested in focusing on project and task execution in support of our environmental compliance team then we want to hear from you.

What You Will Do - Overview

  • Develop and maintain all National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) reporting according to Florida specific rules and regulations.
  • Support stormwater programs (industrial) with inspections, surveys, sampling, and reporting in accordance with permit requirements.
  • Prepare regulatory reports, briefings, and educational materials and attend meetings and regulatory inspections, as requested.
  • Conduct petroleum storage tank inspections and quarterly reporting.
  • Conduct Soil and groundwater sample collection to assist in compliance and permitting requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with all Air Force policies and goals on waste reduction
  • Support other media areas such as:
    • Environmental Management System
    • Solid Waste Management
    • Asbestos and Lead Based Paint Management
  • Petroleum, Oil and Lubricant (POL) Management

You'll Know You're a Good Fit for This Position if You Meet the Minimum Requirements

  • A degree in Environmental Science, or related field, and at least three (3) years of experience in environmental compliance.
  • Possess strong record keeping and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of the Florida Department of Environmental Quality compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Air Force (AF) environmental databases, such as, EESOH-MIS, eDASH, STAR, WET, and AF Instructions and DoD policies relating to Environmental Compliance.
  • Experience working on a military installation desired, but not required.
  • Proficient in MS Office to include, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent technical and client relations skills, as well as detailed field (on-site) observations and associated documentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, team environment, as well as the skills to operate or work on various types of environmental projects.
  • Strong customer service, time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include preparing regulatory reports.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and government background investigation/obtain favorable National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI) in order to maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Information Technology (IT) access.
  • A valid driver's license is required to travel or operate government or company vehicles and equipment.
  • Sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and field environment (in all weather conditions); to perform moderate lifting (minimum 20 lbs.) and carrying; sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time; bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties, climb ladders and slopes; operate motorized vehicles; and operate office equipment including computers and supporting software applications.
