Vacuum Truck Operator (CDL A or B) – Commercial Plumbing Services

Cross & Sons has proudly served Georgia for over 50 years and is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Vacuum Truck Operator to support our JetVac and Plumbing service operations.

Requirements

• Class A or B CDL with tanker endorsement
• Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to work a flexible schedule and respond to emergency calls when needed
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Basic math skills
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and participate in drug testing as required by company policy
• Motor vehicle record and criminal history will be evaluated for job-related eligibility

What You'll Do

This position will primarily serve as a backup vacuum truck operator while assisting with plumbing, equipment, shop, and other field operations as needed.

Duties include:

• Drive and operate JetVac and related equipment
• Clean and maintain sewer mains, storm drains, lift stations, grease interceptors, catch basins, sand/oil separators, and wastewater systems
• Assist with wastewater removal and disposal operations
• Digging trenches and ditches when necessary
• Loading, unloading, and transporting tools, materials, and equipment
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and report repair needs
• Complete required job documentation, inspections, and service records
• Read maps, locate job sites, and navigate service routes
• Work safely around traffic, utilities, and active job sites
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment
• Enter confined spaces when properly trained, permitted, and authorized
• Maintain clean and professional job sites
• Follow all safety procedures and company policies
• Assisting with shop operations, deliveries, maintenance, and general housekeeping
• Reporting customer concerns, jobsite issues, and safety concerns to supervisors
• Performing other duties as assigned to support field and shop operations

Working Conditions

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and may include municipal, commercial, industrial, construction, and other physically demanding environments. Employees may be exposed to sewage, wastewater, chemicals, dust, vibration, noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally
• Ability to pull, move, and handle large hoses and equipment
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, and work in confined spaces
• Ability to safely operate commercial vehicles and specialized equipment
• Sufficient vision, hearing, and depth perception to perform job duties safely
