The Medical Assistant supports physicians and clinical staff in a pain management setting by providing high-quality patient care, assisting with procedures, and ensuring efficient clinical operations. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate approach to patients experiencing chronic pain.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Clinical Support
  • Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and injections (e.g., epidural steroid injections, trigger point injections)
  • Obtain and document vital signs, pain scores, medical histories, and medication lists
  • Assist providers during in-office pain management procedures
  • Perform injections, EKGs, phlebotomy, and wound care as permitted by scope of practice
  • Set up and clean procedure rooms following infection control standards
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain clinical supplies
  • Medication & Compliance
  • Review and reconcile medications, including controlled substances
  • Assist with urine drug screens and chain-of-custody documentation
  • Support compliance with pain management protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, post-procedure care, and medication instructions
  • Administrative & Documentation
  • Accurately document patient interactions and procedures in the EHR
  • Assist with prior authorizations, referrals, and procedure scheduling
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments and diagnostic testing
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in compliance with HIPAA
  • Patient Care & Communication
  • Provide compassionate, respectful care to patients experiencing chronic pain
  • Address patient questions and concerns professionally and empathetically
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and care teams


聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; medical office or billing coursework preferred.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office setting, preferably in pain management, orthopedics, or physical medicine.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and Microsoft Office applications.
