3 12 hours shifts 6a-6p M, W, F - days may change depending on need closer to end of orientation.                     30-minute call response required. Weekdays and every 6th weekend 

 

Job Summary:

Responsible for assessing, formulating plan of care, implementing and evaluating nursing care for assigned patient population. Is a leader and collaborates with the healthcare team to promote a world class environment.

Professional Standards

  1. Performs patient assessments in a systematic and organized manner to provide high quality care and safe outcomes.  The nurse will exercise their autonomy when needed to make decisions in the best interest of the patient.
  2. Education and implementation of the patient's plan of care will be shared with the patient and the family.
  3. Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary departments to coordinate the appropriate care for the surgical patients in the most efficient and highest quality manner.
  4. Follow all relevant federal requirements, AORN standards, the Joint Commission standards, and hospital policies and procedures, when caring for the patient and performing other tasks.
  5. Participate in  perioperative services nursing and  hospital wide Performance Improvement activities. 
  6. Provides direction and collaborates with team members to support a healthy work environment.
  7. Maintains high patient and family satisfaction by providing care that is based upon individual needs.
  8. Pursue lifelong education, by staying current on professional changes and best practices within the health care system.
  9. Be a community leader and represent the nursing profession beyond the walls of Good Samaritan.
  10. Maintain yearly hospital wide and unit specific competencies.
  11. Be responsible for your FTE hours.
  12. Maintain financial responsibility in helping to stay within the unit's budget.
  13. Coordinate with charge nurse and manager on plans for all new staff orientation.
  14. Be a resource leader for the perioperative service department.
  15. Actively participate on the unit based council.
